Honeybell Orange Tree. The Minneola Tangelo or Honeybell Tree is a natural cross of the tart Duncan grapefruit and the sweet Dancy tangerine. They have pretty loose skin and are easy to peel especially compared to most orange varieties.
They are members of the Rutaceae family and are a cross between a tangerine and grapefruit. These Trees produce large juicy sugary-sweet easy to peel seedless bell-shaped fruits that are called Honeybells. Honeybells are usually the size of an adult fist and have a mixed sweet and sour flavor of the sweet mandarin and the tart flavored grapefruit.
Minneola Honeybell citrus trees produce a sweetly tart fruit called a tangelo a cross between a tangerine and grapefruit.
Take note though that the Valencia Orange tree is self-pollinating and can bear fruits without the help of another orange tree but the Honeybell Orange tree is not and has to be cross-pollinated with compatible cultivars for good fruit set.
